Let’s be real: the best gift for any bookworm is more books! And there are some of those on this list, but there are so many reading-adjacent gifts for avid readers. Tea, literary tote bags, branded mugs and socks. They can range from the spectacular to the kitschy.
Here are some things I’ve been gifted over the years that I have enjoyed using, reading, or displaying. My hope is that it might inspire your own wish list or what you’ll get the readers in your life.
Out of Print Banned Books Socks. I enjoy that each sock is different—one redacted, one with the titles. Plus, each purchase helps to fund literacy programs and book donations to communities in need.
Quotation mark earrings. I literally wear them every time I host a virtual literary salon! The ones I have are no longer available, but here are some that are similar.
Portrait of my beloved Mary Shelley. This was printed on request through the National Portrait Gallery in London, England.
Gothic pins set. I love the short quotes on these simply, yet stylish, accessories from the Literary Emporium.
Quote sweatshirt. This became my go-to comfort sweatshirt for wearing around the house in the cold months.
Interesting biographies about some of my favourite authors (For example: Shirley Jackson: A Rather Haunted Life or Built of Books: How Reading Defined the Life of Oscar Wilde).
Gin Austen: A Cocktail Book. I love a literary novel and cocktail pairing (you’ll even find some here on my blog), so this book was a great addition to my kitchen bookshelf.
Tweed bookmark. Now this one is special because it comes from my BFF in the UK, but it is a unique bookmark you don’t have to worry about getting creased.
